Meet Kirsty, the Florist Behind River and Rose

My journey in floristry began over 20 years ago as a shop assistant at a local flower shop. From day one, I absolutely loved my job and couldn’t wait to learn more. I was eager to grow in the industry, so I asked the shop owner if I could complete my NVQ Level 2 while working – a brilliant way to learn on the job and build my skills. I then developed my skills and knowledge further by completing my Level 4 and 5 and Bishop Burton College.

In 2014, after the shop closed, I decided to start my own business so I could continue doing what I loved while raising my children. I began working from my garden shed, and The Flower Shed was born.

Three amazing years later, it was time to grow. With that expansion came a fresh new look and a new name – River and Rose – inspired by my children. After 12 years owning my own business, I have worked on hundreds of weddings and have gained a wealth of experience that I have learned to cherish and draw on for every event. I combine practical expertise with a soft, thoughtful approach to design, ensuring each bouquet and arrangement feels personal, timeless and perfectly suited to the couple. From venue styling and seasonal sourcing to meticulous logistics on the day, my experience means you can relax and trust that your flowers will be beautiful, meaningful and flawlessly delivered.
